For 16 months I ran an experiment: could AI handle the admin side of a YouTube channel well enough to make a real difference?
I create all my own content for my youtube channel. I don’t have a video editor, no SEO team, no virtual assistants. I record my own content, based on a very niche game called Tiny Glade, and upload my play sessions. That’s all fun and games, but the administration part of running a channel was more work then I expected.
Every upload also requires writing a description, researching tags, and crafting a title that actually gets found. I make my own thumbnails quite well, but all the SEO-stuff that draws in an audience correctly is not my strongest point. So I built a workflow around Claude AI to handle all of it, and tracked the results the entire time.
The workflow runs on two things: a channel context document Claude reads every session, and a custom-made Youtube Skill.md document. Bascially it’s a set of instructions that tells Claude exactly how to generate my metadata. Title, full description with timestamps and credits, 15 to 20 SEO tags, ready to paste into YouTube Studio. No re-explaining, no inconsistency. The output is correct the first time, every time.
It also enabled Claude to understand my thumbnails and context, allowing me to simply upload screenshots or my script. It would then set to work, sometimes asking me for clarification/confirmations when in doubt (a crucial criteria I built into all my Claude workflows.)
After 16 months, one niche game, and 96 videos, here is what the data looks like:
- 548,000 impressions from the YouTube algorithm
- 46,182 total views with no paid promotion
- 222 subscribers gained over 12 months
You can see the channel and my results right here:
If you want to try this yourself, I put together a free PDF walkthrough of the exact setup, including how to structure your channel context and how the workflow runs on upload day. I am also sharing the Claude Metadata Skill file for free, so you can drop it straight into your own Claude project and get started immediately.
I encourage any starting content creator to start giving this a shot! It saves time, it helps you streamline your work and most of all, it feels like you have a marketing team helping you out!
Enjoy!
